Improving festival’s experience and accessibility
After working on the festival’s website during my experience at the agency “Prima Pagina”, I wanted to design a concept of the festival’s app. The ultimate goal of the app is to create a better experience for visitors and make the festival more accessible.

As the Romagna Wine Festival is a big event in the city of Cesena in Italy, it was important to make it as easy and simple as possible for visitors to check the upcoming events, locations and wine exhibitors.
One of the main goals was to ensure a premium user experience for all the users, considering the wide age range of visitors to the festival (from 20 years old to late 60s). Also, it was important to create a digital booking process and make the events discovering easier, as previous visitors would have to call to make a booking and use a printed map to discover the different locations.

I conducted user research to understand the pain points in the experience of people who previously participated in the festival.
The first goal of the research was to understand the list of features required to create a better experience.
Through the research phase, I discovered that the main pain points could have been solved by implementing these basic features: in-app booking process, digital tickets purchase and storage, events map. I started with a UX flow of the app and then I moved to the lo-fi paper wireframes then transformed them into hi-fi digital wireframes.
As the festival has different events in different locations, the fist step to create a smoother experience is a central place to view all the events ordered by date and time to avoid confusion.
The problem for the previous visitors of the festival was that they had to check a printed map without knowing their location (many people were coming from other cities).
The second painpoint for the users who went to the previous years of the festival had to check a printed map without knowing their location (many people were coming from other cities)
Having a full list of exhibitors is a very good way for people to discover the winemakers of the wine that was offered during the festival. This also helps the winemakers to sell their wines with quick links to their websites.
The basic ticket for the festival does not include all the events as many of them were private workshops with sommeliers and tasting sessions. A list of all purchased tickets combined with the list of saved events is the best way to make the experience more personalised for the users.

An effortless festival experience
After testing the interaction between the wireframes, I started modifying them into high quality prototypes. I then asked my friends to test it again, adjusting the prototype according to their feedback. The final product is an effortless and easy-to-use app which allows the user to experience the festival at its best.
